Collaborate Constructively- Good or Bad?
Working together can be fun, but can also be challenging. The good thing is that you can meet new people and also learn new things about them. It also gives you a break from so much hard work, but it doesn't mean you should stop working hard. It means that you and your partner or group can all finish a task together, while you still put the same amount of effort. It also gives you an oppurtunity to have fun while working, but it doesn't mean you should focus less on work and more on any other topic. When I work in groups I feel like I put more effort into my work because I know that I'm doing it with a friend so it makes me feel like it's more fun to do it together than alone so I still put a lot of effort, but I feel a lot more confident. When I work alone I feel bored and lonely which doesn't make me feel so confident. I also put a lot more effort because I really don't want to let my partners down.
Although it's fun to work with other people it can also be a bit hard. You won't always agree on the same things. You'll think in different ways and that's fine. It's actually better because you get new ideas and eventually you will come up with something that both of you will agree on. Another challenging thing is that you will most likely get distracted by each other. You'll keep talking to each other. It's okay once in a while, but sometimes it happens too much which isn't so good and you will eventually have to find a way to not get distracted. So working together is a great oppurtunity, but don't let things get in your way.
The book I'm reading is a great book and it has a really interesting plot. Everything to me is starting to make sense. My predictions weren't all true. First of all, I thought Zacharia was a bad guy, but it turns out he was a good guy. Captain Jaggery is a cruel captain after all. Zacharia's words were true about the captain. Other than that the book seems really interesting to me and there isn't anything in particular that I learned about the plot.

Do Literature Circles Really Actually Help Me? (True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle)
You might think Literature Circles are boring and a waste of time, but once you get in your group and discuss you realize how much you would be missing out if you didn't do Literature Circles. How does discussion help you understand? Why can't you just read the book yourself and share your ideas with yourself? You can't do that because than you won't be learning anything new. When you work in groups you hear other peoples' ideas and you realize new things. Sometimes I don't read everything carefully in the book and when somebody brings it up in the discussion I realize something new. Also when you have a discussion in groups you can hear your group members thoughts from their point of view. Discussion isn't the most fun thing to do, but you learn new things and that's all that really matters.
In our discussion on the book True Confessions Of Charlotte Doyle we made many connections. One of my connections was when Charlotte found out that the other families weren't coming. Something like that happened to me before. Me and my friend had planned something, but my friend didn't show up. That was one of my connections to the story. The other members of my groups also had really interesting connections. I also think that connections explain the story from other peoples' points of view. So connections are also really important during a discussion.
What is going to happen? What are my predictions? One of my predictions in my Literature Circle book is that I think Zacharia is planning something because what time of man would give a 13 year old girl a knife? I think he is setting something up. I also think that Captain Jaggery is a bad man and is also planning something. I just have to wait and see what happens in the rest of the book.

What role did geographic location and natural resources play in the the development of Malaysia?
Malaysia is a beautiful place and it is a great achievement. But how has it developed based on where exactly it is located and the resources they have used and created. There are many different parts of Malaysia. There are places near the ocean, places in the city and even places in the forest and these places have developed a lot. In these places they also make and create sources. And actually these sources come from other really important sources. I live in Kuala Lumpur, which is in the city. And these are ways how Malaysia has developed.
I'm gonna start with the places nearby to the ocean because I think these places have developed a lot. When you go to the beach do you ever realize that people just throw their junk into the ocean or they might leave it in the sand and it flies off into the ocean. It travels across the world. Even though Malaysia isn't the most cleanest place in the world it still has changed and developed a lot more than a long time ago. A long time ago people would just leave all their trash wherever they wanted to because they are too lazy or they don't understand what the point is. As time moved on people did that less. People also took time to make recycling bins. I'm not saying that everybody does that, but more people do it rather than before where pretty much no one did. That is definitely one big development in life.
What are the main things you see when you go to a forest? Trees! What would life be like without trees? Malaysia is filled with trees. And people keep planting more and more. Trees provide many things in life that we need. Such as oxygen and paper. Why do we need oxygen? So that we can breath and you get it all from the trees. Paper is really important also. You use paper to write down your thoughts, your ideas and anything else. Sometimes it's also the way to communicate. Trees also make more resources like tools and stuff. That's how much we need trees in life. Malaysia is definitely a green country.
So reading this, now you know the great developments in Malaysia. I know that not everybody in Malaysia are the most fortunate people, but this doesn't effect anything. And this also does not stop us from doing anything to help. If you actually take a chance to look around you might actually realize that some places look cleaner. Some places have recycling bins. All of this makes a huge differnce. Malaysia is filled with great developments.

The Big Things that Took Over My Land
It was a bright day and me and my friends were just relaxing in the mud. We were doing what we did almost everyday. It was so peaceful and quiet. Not a single sound was heard. Well, there was one sound. It was the sound of the leaves flowing in the air. The tall mangroves blocked the sunlight. It was such a day to enjoy.
Suddenly, there was a sound of large footsteps thumping on the floor. Voices were heard. Could it be? Oh no! It was! The humans had arrived! I thought it would be a nice and peaceful day! I have lost many of my friends from these annoying humans. I won't let them get away with it again. I moved closer to see what they were doing. Oh no! This time there were more people! But they were much smaller than the people before. There was so many of them! What could I do to help me and the rest of my friends? There was nothing I could do. A few minutes later the humans started to head down towards the mud. Towards my home. Towards my friends. Towards me.
I moved towards the front to see if any of my friends were there. They were so tall! Every move i made those huge feet would stomp right next to me. As a mudskipper it didn't feel very good, of course. Oh no! One of my friends were right there and a human was about to step on him! "MOVE! MOVE! MOVE!" Oh no! He didn't hear me! I moved quickly closer to him. "MOVE!" It was too late. That human had already stepped on it. The funny thing was that as the human stepped on him the human began to sink down. That made me laugh so hard.
Boots were sinking deep in the mud. Humans were sinking and falling into the mud. It was very funny, but also very dangerous for us, mudskippers. How come the people that had come before to do it weren't as bad as these people? I tried to find a place to hide. I also needed to find my other friends and warn them. I couldn't see any of them. Maybe they had already been warned and they knew what was coming for them. So I decided to just find a place to hide.
I hud beneath a log, hoping no one would be able to step on me here. Then, I heard a soft cry. I looked around to see what it was. Then, out in the open, was a small mudskipper. A lot smaller than me. She looked lost. I had to help her. I peeked out to see if anything was coming towards here. There was nothing. So I crawled as quickly as I could across to the small baby mudskipper. I pulled her in my arms and looked to see if anything was coming and I ran across back to the log. Then, the little baby started screaming. I asked her what was wrong. She replied,"My mommy is out there! I need to help her! Please help me!" I quickly looked outside to check for her mother. I spotted her. "Hold on! I'm coming to get you!" It was too late. Her mother was stepped on. We watched as she just sank down to the bottom.
The little baby's eyes was filled with tears. "I'm so sorry," I said, trying to make her feel better. What is wrong with these humans? They are ruining everybody's life! Just get out of here! We don't want you here! I knew they couldn't hear me, but it was worth a shot. There is nothing else I can do. I'm too small for these people. I might as well just go out there and let them step on me. But that would just be a waste of my life. I'll just stay in this log. Good Bye and wish me luck with these humans.

Why can't I have enough courage to stop bullying?
I haven't seen bullying many times, but there was this one time when I saw bullying. Yes, here at ISKL. The clock hit 2:45 and it was time to go. I went to my locker and packed up my bag with my homework and stuff. Most of my friends took bus, but I didn't. I took the car to and from school. Well anyways, I walked pass the busing place and said bye to my friends as they walked down to the buses. I continued to walk towards the car park. As I was walking I noticed something that didn't look right. Oh my gosh! As I turned my head towards the left slowly I noticed that there was this guy bullying this other boy.
For a while I had thought that he was just joking around, but I could see the other boy's face and he didn't look so good. I kept walking, trying hard not to let the guy notice that I was looking at im. I couldn't take it. I just had to see what was going on. What if something bad was happening? But if there was, there would be no point of me trying to help because I wouldn't be able to stop it and it might even cause more trouble if I try, which I know I can't.
As I was walking I couldn't help, but turn my head and look at what that guy was doing. I couldn't tell what the guy had done, but I'm pretty sure I had a good idea because the boy that was being bullied was like covering his stomach and he looked like he was in so much pain. Then, the bully was about to kick the guy and I could tell he could see me looking at him. So before he kicked the guy I turned my head as fast as I could so that he didn't see me. I didn't get to see him kick him, though. Then, I just walked to my car and I kept this incident all to myself.
What should I have done instead of just stare? Well not really even stare. More like imagined it wasn't happening because I was so scared. Well these guys were high schoolers so I knew I couldn't fight back, but I could have gone and told someone. Instead, I just walked away, feeling bad for that boy, but it didn't seem like I really cared because I just walked away as if nothing happened. So I would have gone and told someone.
I have 2 goals for this year. One is that I should not make anybody feel bad or also known as bully anyone. Making people feel bad is not a good thing because you probably won't want other people to make you feel bad. Another goal of mine is to be courageous and do the right thing. If I ever see anyone being bullied I will either tell them to stop or I will tell someone. If I am ever being bullied I will tell the person to stop or I will just walk away.

The Time I Learned something new about myself
When I was about 7 or 8 years old I thought I was afraid of roller coasters. This time I didn't live in Malaysia yet, but I visited Malaysia every summer. Most summers I would go to Genting Highland with my cousins. Usually we would go on small rides because we weren't brave enough to go on the big rollercoasters. I really wanted to try going on a roller coaster, but I was too scared. I was also not sure if I was big enough.
One day when we went to Genting Highland, my sister went on this one roller coaster called the "Dragon". At that time I wasn't with her because I was on another ride with my cousins. At the end of the day my sister told me that she went on this roller coaster called the "Dragon". She told me that I should have gone on it because it was really fun and I was big enough. That made me feel really bad about being afraid. So, I asked my mom if we could go back to that roller coaster and I could try it. She said it was too late to do it today. I was really upset, but I still had time tomorrow.

The next day I asked my mom if I could go on that roller coaster. She asked me if I was brave enough. I knew I wasn't, but I wanted to give it a shot. So I said yes. So we walked towards that roller coaster. As we got closer and closer I became more scared. Finally we got to the roller coaster. I took a deep breath and then asked the guy if I could go on. He opened the door and let me in. Inside I was screaming and I felt like getting out and going on a smaller ride, but it was too late. He was about to press the button. This was my chance to face my fear. He pushed the button. The roller coaster made a loud noise which made me even more scared. Then, the roller coaster pushed off. It went down slowly. Then, it got faster and faster. I was screaming so loud. Then, I realized I wasn't screaming of fear. I was screaming of enjoyment! After the ride ended, I asked my mom if I could go on again and again. I'm so happy my sister told me about that ride, otherwise today I would probably still be afraid of riding roller coasters.

How can understanding the past, help us to understand our world?
Understanding the past can help us understand our wold in many ways. Maybe there was something that happened in the past that affected our world today. What if 9/11 didn't happen? Many people would still be alive today. What if Hitler won? Many of us would not be alive today. Imagine having something happened in the past that made our lives so different then they were really going to turn out. Now imagine that not happening. What would our lives be like now? We would live very differently than we do now.
What if no one ever invented the computer? I wouldn't be able to do this work right now then. What if no one ever invented the computer or the cell phone? A lot of you (especially the girls) would think that you wouldn't be able to live, but believe it or not you would feel normal. It would be the way to live. Back then people thought Elvis Presley was the Justin Bieber. A lot of us now would think Elvis Presley is lame, but back then he was just like Justin Bieber. In the future people might think that Justin Bieber is lame. It all depends on the past. So it's really important to understand the past.

Would I Rather be an archeologist, geographer or historian?
Out of the 3 jobs, I would choose to be an archaeologist. I'm more intersted in finding things from the past rather than leading the way or studying the actual history. It's more fun for me to find artifacts rather than finding the way to get to places or studying the past.
I would be good at finding artifacts because I'm more interested in doing that. If I do one of the other jobs I wouldn't be as interested and I would get bored, which means I wouldn't do such a good job as I would for searching things. That's why I want to be an archaeologist.

Introducing ME!
My name is Aishah. I am from Malaysia. I go to ISKL. My humanities teacher is Mr. Thomas. I am in 6th grade. I really like 6th grade. The last movie I saw was Inception. It's a really good movie, but it is really confusing. My favorite vacation memory is when I went to Egypt with my cousins. We stayed on a cruise ship that was really big and we would always play hide and seek on the boat and it was really fun. My academic goal is to make sure I finish my homework and classwork on time. My social goal is to stay organized and be prepared for every class. I'm funny. I'm cool. I'm smart. I'm fun. I'm really enjoying 6th grade! One of the last books I've read is Stanford Wong Flunks Big Time by Lisa Yee. Another book that I have recently read is Poppy by Avi. And another book i have read is The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner.
